Today was my second class observation, I meant officially my first class observation. Like usual, at 7.15 I joined flag ceremony. By the way, I didn’t understand what the people said during flag ceremony as they used Tagalog (Philippines’ National Language) LOL. The steps were flag ceremony, singing national anthem, read SPUS Visions Missions, and other activities.

I had two classes observation, today. My first class observation was Grade 12 GAS 2 ((General Academic Science). I entered class with Miss Comelon – my coordinating teacher. The class was good, modern, and full colors. It was new building I guess as it is really different with junior high school building (the old one). The student greeted me, “ Good Morning Miss Beny, Glad to see you. ” I was so touched. They were so cute, oh my god.

I sat behind (last row). Miss Comelon formed class into five groups. Each group has 5-6 members. Miss Comelon gives material to the students by showing PowerPoint Presentation. Students asked to brainstorm in 25 minutes. The brainstorming was related to slides given. It was about the term of inquiry, research definition, importance of research, and characteristics of research.  Each group has to present its brainstorming. They were very active. Even, they scrambled answering the questions of Miss Comelon. For students who are participative will get extra point. That was why they were so active.

My second class observation was TVL (). Like the first class, Miss Comelon formed the class into group as well. Group discussion was more effective as they could cooperative learning with their friends. They could share opinion, idea, build knowledge by discussing. They also had brainstorming. Brainstorming aims to warm up the classroom. Students ask to tell the material by their understanding. After brainstorming, Miss Comelon asked about important of research (for example), and the students had to answer according to their understanding. Then, teacher will clarify and explain it well.

The class instruction was using English. For the explanation, however, sometimes teacher used Tagalog. The class situation was so exciting and alive. The teacher should be more innovative as the students were so active.

From the class observation today, I have learnt that I should learn more, more, and more, so I can face and handle those students. GOD, the students were so amazing.
