Teaching methods
The teaching methods of St. Paul University Surigao is student-centered. Student-centered learning is methods of teaching that shift the focus of instruction from the teacher to the student. Student-centered instruction focuses on skills and practices that enable lifelong learning and independent problem-solving. Student-centered learning puts students’ interests first, acknowledging student voice as central to the learning experience. This is in contrast to traditional education, also dubbed “teacher-centered learning”, which situates the teacher as the primarily “active” role while students take a more “passive”, receptive role.
In student-centered learning, the teacher acts as a facilitator, motivator, and evaluator. It means that the teacher is only as a learning mentor for students such as giving direction, learning motivation and in terms of assessment. The teacher gives the lesson material to the students. Then students develop it by themselves. The students can have group discussion and brainstorming.
Sources of learning and technology
